Soil – Water & Food Security Part 4: Restoration in Practice

Welcome to Part 4 of the interactive lecture on Soil, Water and Food Security by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Otterpohl. In this part, you learn more about what soil restoration is in practice. The following restoration projects will be introduced:

  • Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR)
  • Resource Oriented Sanitation in Cagayan de Oro
  • Climate Farming
  • Loess Plateau
  • La Ferme du Bec Hellouin
  • New Towns

Therefore, this lecture will explain what soil restoration looks like in practice. Several restoration projects will be presented, but also alternative sanitation practices, namely Terra Preta Sanitation, which enable production of a nutrient rich humus that can be applied to soil as a fertiliser.
